Frequently Asked Questions
I already have X1. How do I sign up for live TV streaming and/or On Demand streaming for X1?
Live TV and On Demand streaming are both currently available for existing X1 customers in limited markets. If you have been notified that one of these features is available in your area, please contact us. Once you have access to live TV and/or On Demand streaming, simply download the XFINITY TV app or go to the new XFINITY TV site while in your home.
Where are live TV and On Demand streaming available now?
Live TV and On Demand streaming are only available in select Comcast areas and require the X1 DVR with Cloud Technology service or live TV streaming service. We are continually expanding this service, however, if you receive the Coverage is Still Limited error message when attempting to use this feature on the XFINITY TV website or the XFINITY TV app, this means the service is not yet available in your market.
Does live TV streaming with the XFINITY TV app/XFINITY TV site include all channels?
This feature includes all linear channels on your lineup except for Pay Per View, Music Choice or Adult channels.
Does On Demand streaming with the XFINITY TV app/XFINITY TV site include all titles?
This feature includes only those XFINITY On Demand TV shows and movies that are free or part of your subscription.
Will I be able to rent or purchase movies and TV shows via the XFINITY TV app or XFINITY TV site?
No, you cannot rent or purchase movies or TV shows from your mobile devices or computers. You must rent or purchase from your X1 set-top box; however, any rented movie or TV show will be available for playback in the XFINITY TV app. This is available in the Recent section of Saved and in the Last Watched section on your mobile devices.
How do I access the X1 live TV and/or On Demand streaming features, and what devices are supported?
New and existing X1 customers can access both live TV and On Demand streaming in their homes on mobile devices with the XFINITY TV app or on supported personal computers through the XFINITY TV site. The XFINITY TV app is currently available for iOS devices running 7.0 or later and Android devices running 4.0 or later.
Will live TV and/or On Demand streaming on X1 count against my XFINITY Internet data usage threshold?
No, live TV and On Demand streaming on X1 won’t count against your Internet data usage threshold. These features are not delivered over the Internet but through your in-home XFINITY network.
Note: On Demand streaming via the XFINITY TV Go app will count towards your Internet and cellular data usage, as this feature is delivered over the Internet.
I can’t access live TV and/or On Demand streaming when I’m traveling, is there a problem?
This ability to live stream any channel or stream XFINITY On Demand programming via the XFINITY TV app or the XFINITY TV site is only available on your in-home XFINITY network. However, you can enjoy select live TV networks and XFINITY On Demand programming on the go with the XFINITY TV Go app, or by visiting xfinity.com/tv.
Why can I only access certain live TV channels outside my home?
Because live TV channels delivered outside the home are delivered over the Internet, we can only provide those channels for which we have Internet rights. In contrast, live TV streaming with X1 is not delivered over the Internet, is available only in your home, and is an extension of your XFINITY TV service. If you are outside your home and not connected to your in-home XFINITY network, you should be using the XFINITY TV Go app, which is delivered over the Internet.
How is On Demand streaming via the XFINITY TV app different than On Demand streaming via the XFINITY TV Go app?
On Demand streaming via the XFINITY TV app gives you full access to your entire XFINITY On Demand library, which includes TV shows and movies that are free or part of your subscription. You must be connected to your in-home XFINITY network to have access to your full XFINITY On Demand library.
On Demand streaming via the XFINITY TV Go app gives you access to select XFINITY On Demand content, and it does not include your full XFINITY On Demand library. The XFINITY TV Go app can be used outside of your home for on-the-go entertainment.
How many devices can stream live TV and/or On Demand content on X1 simultaneously?
You can have up to 5 devices streaming simultaneously.
What devices are supported?
The product is currently available for viewing on PC, Macs, iOS devices and Android devices.
